Architect in Cumbria

I am a Chartered Architect, with over 20 years experience as an Architect in Cumbria.  I am a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), and the Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC).

After graduating from the Mackintosh School of Architecture (Glasgow) in 1980, I worked for 6 years in Newcastle. In 1986 I moved to Cumbria to join Nichol Armstrong Lowe, as the Project Architect for the Angel Square shopping development and the Devonshire Arcade & Public Library in Penrith.  Both projects won RIBA and Civic Trust awards.  Subsequently I joined Brian Lowe in Partnership in the renamed practice, Lowe Rae Architects.  Following Brian’s untimely injury in 1998, I was privileged to take over his position as Architect to Carlisle and Blackburn Cathedrals.  In 2002, following Brian’s retirement, I re-formed as a Sole Practitioner, maintaining my personal and experienced service throughout the Lake District, Cumbria, and the North West

The diversity of my portfolio reflects my wealth of experience in New Housing & Conversions, Alterations & Extensions, Hotels & Leisure buildings, Commercial & Industrial buildings and Listed buildings & Conservation with some recent examples shown in the attached links.

I am pleased to offer a no obligations first meeting to review your requirements, offer my initial thoughts on design and advise on the requirements & procedures for your project.
